Job Role Details
Arsenal Football Club Medical and Performance team is a world leading department made up of Medical and Conditioning staff from around the world. Our aim is to provide elite support to our athletes in order that they best meet the technical and tactical demands of the game. As a progressive Medical and Performance team, we promote the health and well-being of the athletes and facilitate the best methods of performance enhancement. Combining these key elements to optimise their ability to perform regularly by maximising their robustness, optimizing their preparation and recover for games and minimising recovery time during rehabilitation to return the players to performance and availability.
The purpose of this primarily developmental role is to bring energy and enthusiasm to the department and support the delivery of all elements of athlete health and performance depending on the demands of the service
The key elements of the role will be adaptability; whilst there will be specific responsibilities we are looking for somebody with the flexibility to support across all the key elements of sports medicine provision in elite sport.
The role will be focused on the delivery of the key Performance Physiotherapy tasks of screening, training preparation, assessment of injury, pitch-side cover for training, and the delivery of appropriate rehabilitation and conditioning tasks in conjunction with the rehabilitation team. The role will also include an element of soft tissue treatment to players as part of training and match preparation, and recovery.

-Respond to the requirements of the Senior Physiotherapists and Soft Tissue Therapists.
-Provide effective assessment and appropriate treatment interventions for all players and contribute to the diagnosis and treatment plans in conjunction with senior staff.
-Support the delivery of all elements of First Team screening (pre-season and in season monitoring).
-Support the soft tissue staff with the delivery of soft tissue treatments; especially during recovery days and in preparation for games.
-Actively contribute to the Club's commitment to research and development.
-Assist in the clinical data collection / monitoring / auditing and presentation to evaluate staff and department practises.
-Actively contribute to the development of the department's manual processes.
-Assist and lead first aid and pitch side cover for matches/training, as required by the department.
-Accompany players to scans and hospital appointments as requested by senior physiotherapists or medical staff.
-Demonstrate and produce detailed and expert level of clinical notes for all fit and injured players
-To maintain comprehensive medical records on the computerised medical database in accordance with Premier League, CSP and HCPC requirements.
-Demonstrate and maintain expert level of communication skills with all key stakeholders that are involved in the care of all players
-Adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Arsenal Football Club and its operations.
Treatment and Rehabilitation:
-Deliver an expert level of Physiotherapy, to include manual handling and soft tissue skills for all fit and injured players.
-Consult with players to gather information about general health and injury.
-Collect and analyse data to identify cause of injury.
-Contribute to strategies to maximise performance and robustness.
-Support the delivery of all elements of treatment room, gym and pitch-based rehabilitation in conjunction with senior staff.
-Contribute to the development of rehabilitation/treatment plans.
-To work with other members of the Medical and Performance team to provide a holistic and integrated approach to the delivery of screening, recovery, assessment, strength/conditioning and rehabilitation.
-Actively participate in the Club's commitment to research and development.
-Work towards a further personal qualification (MSc or equivalent).
-Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) through the comprehensive internal CPD programme and any other relevant external CPD courses.
-Undergo regular communication with all members of the Medical and Performance team.
-Liaise and work closely First Team physiotherapy and medical staff in particular.
-Develop strong professional relationships with players based on trust and respect.
Main Job Requirements and Person Specification
-A BSc or MSc degree level qualification in Physiotherapy.
-A postgraduate degree qualification in the relevant field of sports medicine and performance field desirable.
-MCSP and HCPC registered.
-An extensive and up to date CPD portfolio
-A valid driving licence.
-A valid passport.
Specific Experience Required:
-At least three years' experience of working in a full-time Physiotherapy role with elite level athletes or equivalent industry knowledge.
-Experience of treating sporting injuries within elite athletes.
-Experience of delivering soft tissue therapy.
-Experience of working full time in a high-performance team environment.
-Excellent player management and communication skills.
-Proven ability to integrate into a team environment.
-Excellent communication skills with all key stake holders outside of the playing staff.
-Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the demands of elite sport.
-Ability to remain calm, respond to set backs, reflect, learn and improve.
-Proactive and versatile in their approach in achieving successful outcomes.
-Ability to manage resources and information, particularly medical records.
-A thorough understanding of Health and Safety and its application to a sporting environment.
-Energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to enthuse and inspire.
