Job Role Details
Our category three Academy is an integral part of our club and our vision is driven by our youth development structure and community values.
This position is for a suitably qualified Head of Coaching who is focussed and motivated by the task of continuing the development of players in our vibrant Academy.
Candidates looking to apply for this position must hold a current UEFA A Licence and Advanced Youth Award. It is desirable for the candidate to also be part of the Elite Head of Coaching Program (EHOC).
Reporting to: The Academy Manager
Directly responsible for: Academy Coaching Provision
To ensure efficient design, implementation and delivery of the coaching programme across the performance pathway. The programme should be constantly discussed, monitored and reviewed to ensure best practice and to play a pivotal role in achieving the objective of producing home grown players for the first team.
Role Accountabilities & Key Duties
1 To deliver coaching sessions to players across all phases of the Academy performance pathway
2 To ensure the Academy Philosophies and Values are adhered to by the players, parents and coaches across the performance pathway
3 Organise and oversee all coaching programmes within the age range 9 to 21
4 Implement and monitor the Academy Coaching Syllabus for 9 to 21 year olds and ensure the coaching syllabus for the age range is delivered, meeting Academy and FA criteria
5 To assist in the monitoring and assessment of the players in all Phases in training and in match performances
6 Take responsibility for their own learning and development.
7 Organise, structure and chair all Academy coach meetings and workshops
8 Ensure all Academy staff are undertaking the appropriate CPD to enhance their development and maintain their coaching licence
9 Implement a CPD programme appropriate to the needs of the Academy in line with the Academy football philosophy
10 Work closely with The FA Youth Coach Educator to ensure appropriate delivery and support across all phases of the Academy
11 Work closely with the Lead Phase coaches and constantly review and evaluate the philosophy and curriculum content
12 Feedback to the age group coaches through session observations to continually support them in the quality of the delivery of thecoaching curriculum in line with the Coaching Competency Framework and each coaches individual learning plans
13 Continually look for ways to be innovative and improve the coaching curriculum in line with modern trends
14 Assist in the day to day coaching of the scholars
15 To attend meetings as directed by the Head of Football and Academy Manager

Skills & Experience
- An extensive knowledge and experience of the elite performance Academy environment and/or the professional game in a similar or related role.
- Experience in the day to day operation of a Premier League / Football League Academy.
- A clear understanding of the Academy system and the professional football environment.
- An ability and experience of managing staff and creating strong working relationships.
- An ability to integrate with an already strong Academy and existing staffing structure.
- An enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is a good motivator.

- Playing experience at a Professional level.
- Experience working in a high performing business environment.
- Understanding how elite players are developed.
- Working with young people.
- High levels of organisation and planning and experience of project management.
