Job Role Details

Sporting Kansas City is seeking a motivated and determined individual with leadership skills to build a competitive youth soccer club from the ground up for its Director of Coaching (DOC), Sporting Youth Club position. The DOC will serve as the face of the club and be an ambassador for the organization in the community. The DOC will manage and lead the coaching staff to achieve organizational and performance objectives related to player and coaching development, and the overall club management. This is a full-time position with benefits and incentives that will directly report to the Vice President, Youth Business Development.

The position is to be a key contributor to the team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: “We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club.”

About the Club

Sporting Youth Club (club name to be announced soon) is a new competitive youth soccer club for boys and girls that will begin competition in fall 2022 with team tryouts in June 2022. Sporting Youth Club will be the main soccer tenant at Central Bank Sporting Complex in Platte County, Missouri which is slated to open in August 2022 and will consist of 10 world class turf soccer fields. The club will be committed to providing our future members with a professional managed club focusing on a player development model that inspires each player to reach their full potential both on and off the field.

The official club name, structure, staff, programs and additional information about the club will be announced in the coming months.

Essential Functions

- Oversee all soccer related activities and the development of the club, teams, coaches, and players.

- Oversee the identification, recruitment, and retention of all coaches.

- Develop and implement a club wide coaching curriculum.

- Design and deliver player development and team training programs.

- Organize and administer annual player tryouts.

- Perform coaching education events and coordinate continuing education opportunities for coaches.

- Design and deliver player development and team training programs.

- Attend weekly practices and weekend games for teams to give assistance, feedback, and advice.

- Develop and implement a standard player and coach evaluation plan.

- Manage the club calendar for planning and scheduling of training, games, and tournaments.

- Educate the parents on the club's policies and philosophies through written communication, webinars, and meetings.

- Train and coach teams, if needed

- Passion for coaching and developing youth players.

- Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills; able to resolve conflict in a professional manner.

- Strong public speaking skills: ability to speak to coaches, parents, or community groups to help promote the club's vision and objectives.

Job Requirements and Experience

- USSF “C” License or higher required

- Bachelor's degree, master's preferred

- 3-5 years of experience in a youth soccer director position or college coaching experience preferred.

- Experience in developing curriculums and training programs.

- Experience managing coaches.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar
