Sam Stanton appointed Player Insights Analyst at Southampton
SAM STANTON has landed a dream role as part of the Player Insights Team at English Premiership high-fliers Southampton.
Sport Careers Agency client Sam will be Analyst Lead in the new department launched by Saints at the start of this season to provide inspirational coach Ralph Hassenhuttl with a cutting edge scouting and recruitment division.
Shock troops Saints currently lie eighth in the Premiership table, five points off the Champions League slots, after a thrilling season to date.
They are a club on the rise and Sam's appointment after seven years as Head of Analysis at Championship side Bristol City shows the faith Southampton Director of Football Matt Crocker has in him.
Stanton was at the forefront of many facets of analytical innovation at Bristol City alongside forward-thinking then Head Coach Lee Johnson who is now at League One giants Sunderland.
Most notably they brought in an outdoor 12-foot screen on the training field to help bring coaching moments to life for the City players.
The club's clever use of technology created a data-driven culture that helped maximise the development of their players and resulted in transfer sales of 100million (GBP) over four years.
Sam's role in that success story has seen his profile within the game elevate and now it has been rewarded with the switch to Saints.
Sports Careers Agency is proud of Sam's progress and we'll be bringing you an in-depth interview soon with the new Southampton Analyst Lead.
