THE LIFE OF BRIAN...Murphy is making an exciting switch from New Zealand to Australialinkedin.com

BRIAN MURPHY is the new Head Coach of Magpies Crusaders United FC in Australia as he takes an exciting step forward in his football career.

The Irishman and Sport Careers Agency client has landed a thrilling challenge and will take charge of his team in their region of the National Premier Queensland League in Oz.

Brian will make the short journey from Auckland in New Zealand where he has been working as Director of Soccer and First Team Coach of Kiwi club Onehunga Mangere United.

Murphy is delighted to have won the race for the appointment and he smiled: "Football really is a funny old game and this came out of the blue.

"It was an opportunity that was too good to turn down. I'm excited to be a Magpie and back in full-time football.

"I'm looking forward to getting started in the sugar capital of Australia!"

It's a sweet feeling for Brian who had an excellent playing career in his homeland with the likes of Shamrock Rovers before trying his luck abroad and making the transition into coaching.

He stressed: "I feel I have enhanced my coaching knowledge and expertise through qualifications with the Oceania Football Confederation, Asian Football Confederation, New Zealand FA, FIFA, Football Association of Ireland and the English FA.

"My coaching philosophy is to further the development of players through encouraging them to learn from their mistakes and think outside the box.

"I want to forge teams who play with passion, purpose, discipline and creativity."

Now that drive and coaching expertise is heading to Australia for a new adventure.

Sport Careers Agency will catch up with Brian for an interview this week, look out for that in-depth piece on the site in the days to come.
