Locke’s Men Go Top of the Table

  • New manager leads Raith to 2 wins out of 2
  • Impressive 3-1 home win over St Mirren
  • Goals from McManus (2) and Callachan

Goalscorer Declan McManus celebrates

Sport Careers Agency client Gary Locke continued his excellent start to life as manager as his side beat St Mirren 3-1 at Stark's Park.

The victory was Raith's second from as many league games under Locke and fellow client Darren Jackson- enough to put Rovers top of the Championship table ahead of pre-season favourites Hibs on goal difference.

St Mirren, relegated from the top flight in 2015, went into the season hotly tipped to challenge for promotion.

The Buddies, however, were swept aside by a rampant Raith side who powered into a 3-0 in through goals from Declan McManus (2) and Ross Callachan.

Ryan Hardie's strike for St Mirren proved to be little more than a consolation as Riath comfortable held on to follow up last week's in over Ayr United with another three points.
