Chris Morgan is a UEFA Pro licensed coach and manager with more than 20 years’ experience in the game. Having made almost 500 appearances combined for Sheffield United and Barnsley, Chris has successfully transitioned into coaching through his passionate for the game, extensive technical knowledge and proven capacity to engage with and motivate a high performing team.

Currently the Assistant Manager at Chesterfield and a former Caretaker Manager, Lead Development Coach and 1st Team Coach at Sheffield United - Chris has consistently demonstrated his natural leadership skills, commitment to long term success, and ability to develop players capable of succeeding at the highest level.

  • Qualified for the League One play-offs with Sheffield United in 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2014/15, reaching the final in 2012
  • Reached the semi-finals of the 2013/14 FA Cup and 2014/15 League Cup with Sheffield United, playing Premier league clubs Hull City FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC respectively
  • Won the 2011/12 Central League title with the reserves team in his first year of coaching at Sheffield United
  • Led Sheffield United to the play-offs in 2013 during a five game spell as Caretaker Manager
  • Coached and developed players such as Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka, Harry Maguire and Louis Reed at Sheffield United
  • Captained Sheffield United for seven seasons - leading the club to promotion to the Premier League in 2005/06, play-off finals in 2009 and 2011, and winning several club Player of the Year awards
  • Won several Player of the Year awards at Barnsley as well as playing in a play-off final in 1999/00
