Chris is a highly accomplished football professional who has excelled in multiple areas of the game - making nearly 500 professional appearances as a player; building winning and highly motivated teams on the field as a manager of 469 matches; and most recently overseeing the entire football operation of Chesterfield FC as their CEO for six years.

Combines this experience to ensure every aspect of a club is unified behind a clear philosophy and collective vision, building a positive football environment based on long term thinking, strategic recruitment, commecial excellence, open communication and simplicity in execution.

Chis is now looking to apply this background and knowledge to an exciting new challenge that provides scope to tangibly impact a club’s performance in the short term while also building a sustainable long term future.

Key Achievements

  • Won the 2013/14 League Two title to seal promotion to League One with Chesterfield and reached the League One play-offs in the very next season (2014/15)
  • Reached the Football League Trophy twice with Chesterfield, winning in 2012
  • Departed Chesterfield with the club recording a strong financial performance in 2016 following a period of instability
  • Retained Hartlepool’s League One status from 2007 to 2010 despite having the lowest average attendances and a bottom three playing budget
  • Personally recruited 10 of the 13 players that featured in Sheffield Wednesday’s 2004/05 League One play-off final victory
  • Led Hartlepool to the 1999/00 League Two play-offs and went on a 21 game unbeaten run in 2000/01
  • Significantly reduced the playing budget at both Stockport and Sheffield Wednesday while simultaneously generating funds through the development and sale of players
  • Coached and developed Emile Heskey at Leicester as well as Robbie Keane, Matt Murray, Keith Andrews, Joleon Lescott and Lee Naylor at Wolverhampton
