A forward thinking and player focused football coach with 16 years’ experience in football development from grassroots through to professional level - establishing a proven record in curriculum coordination, team management, coach education, and helping young players realise their full potential within a structured Tactically Periodised and LTAD model.

Currently Kilmarnock Football Clubs Head of Professional Phase and leading the coaching and performance of Kilmarnock FC’s U18s and Development squad, also coach at The Kris Doolan Football Academy and Scottish FA Coach Educator. I have a proven track record of successfully leading coaching programmes in Scotland, Canada and China to build a well-rounded perspective on the game.

Possesses exceptional organisation, leadership and communication skills; invaluable experience with video analysis software and other critical IT applications; and a natural ability to engage with both players and coaches to facilitate their tangible progression.

Key Achievements

  • Four players from the Kilmarnock’s first group of U11s have now progressed to senior football in the Scottish Premiership - including current Kilmarnock players Dean Hawkshaw, Lewis Morrison and Jack Paterson, as well as Partick Thistle player David Syme
  • In 2018, 9 players from our U17 team signed as professional players, they will now work with me with the U18s and Reserve team.
  • In 2020 my U18 team reached the Scottish cup final. Unable to play the match due to Covid-19
  • During 2020 I was promoted to Assistant manager for the First team to work with and along side Alex Dyer
  • Currently Coach education tutor for the Scottish FA using online virtual learning
  • In season 2019-20 two former U18 players made their Premier League debut
  • One key player Liam Smith Moved to Manchester City after one season in the U18 team that made the Youth Scottish Cup Final
