Dan is a forward thinking, highly driven and technically knowledgeable football coach with a proven record in both implementing effective coaching syllabuses and directly leading the development of players across all age groups within an elite academy environment.

Currently the Head of Academy Coaching and Lead Professional Development Phase Coach at Notts County FC - he has personally driven a number of improvements across all aspects of the Academy, played a key role in the progression of players to the senior team, and effectively contributed to areas such as coach education, recruitment, and the establishment of a cohesive playing philosophy.

A positive, supportive and visible point of leadership within a coaching structure, Dan is keen to continue progressing in the game while having a tangible impact on both player performance and the long term success of a club on and off the field.

Key Achievements

  • Lead role in the Academy’s audit at the start of the 2014/15 season due to the club being without an Academy Manager, successfully completing all audit recommendations to secure Category Three academy status.
  • Given additional responsibility for seveal aspects of the Academy’s operations as Lead FP Coach due to a consistent focus on its growth.
  • Gained invaluable experience in sports analysis software (such as SportsCode Gamebreaker) as Youth Team Performance Analyst.
  • Able to develop a strong knowledge of players and teams as a First Team Scout attending League One games across the country.
  • Improved several areas of the Academy’s operations, including the Academy Performance Plan, the Playing Philosophy, Coaching Philosophy, Recruitment Strategy, Core Values and time spent on the grass during each coaching session at all age groups
  • Successfully implemented a target and objective based syllabus which enables simple session planning, target setting, player reviews and assessing player development
  • Led the U18s on a 10 game winning run during the first half of the 2015/16 season, before bringing through several of the U16 players for the second half of the season and again achieving several notable results
  • Helped three U18 players earn professional contracts at the end of the 2015/16 season
